Pastor Jason and Family
Jason grew up in Redlands, California, and at age 18 experienced a call from the Lord to become a Pastor. He dropped his plans to attend Photography school, and instead went to Vanguard University in Costa Mesa to pursue God's path for him. God had even more planned for him there because that's where he met his future wife, Shannon!
Shannon, originally from California as well, grew up living overseas in places like the Philippines, England, and Guam. When it came time for college, she was ready to return home to Southern California. After meeting in college, Jason and Shannon quickly became close friends, and fell in love even faster!
Shannon recently wrote a book telling the incredible story of God's grace in their marriage after falling away from God and each other, AND surviving infidelity. Their prodigal journey is one that exemplifies the amazing grace of God, and the power of unconditional love. Her book, Brokenness Undone: A Story for Every Wife is available on Amazon.
In their prodigal journey's back to Christ, Jason and Shannon struggled with the sense of complacency that they found in a lot of churches. They were also discouraged by the "consumer" mentality of a lot of the modern day churches.
Jason and Shannon decided that it was time to get back to basics. That's where the First Century Church Project came about. It's a group of believers who desire to read God's Word, make disciples, and reach the poor and needy, DAILY. Following Christ is 7 days a week, not 4 Sundays a month.
Jason and Shannon have been married now for 16 years and have two children, ages 15 and 7. They love being "a family on mission" as they live out the call to make disciples and reach the poor and needy. They offer Discipleship Retreats from their home in Buckeye, AZ, as well as Bible studies throughout the week in different locations. They also designed a free 9-month Discipleship Bible Study called Launch, available to people and churches who want to start living out the call to make disciples. Their desire is to make disciples who make disciples!
Shannon also has a blog for women called Be a Crown in which she and her team encourage and challenge women to be all that God has created them to be.
The First Century Church Project is a way of life. The world we live in today has taught us that church is a place. The Bible says the church is you. We are followers of Jesus that desire to live out the Great Commission, which is to tell the world about Jesus and to make disciples. We believe the "world" starts with your world. Who is in your life already that doesn't know Christ? We believe that God wants you to do what Jesus did, GO spend time with them, eat with them, share your story, pray for them. As you continue to pray for the friends you are investing in, God will open the door to share His love with them. It's that simple. Be the church even more than you go to church. Being a follower is 7 days a week!
FCCP exists to…
1. Equip the church to deny themselves, take up their cross and follow Jesus through the Great Commission. (Matthew 28:19-20)
2. Be the church that God calls us to be. We are commanded to be light, salt and a city on hill in a dark world. (Matthew 5:13-16)
3. Introduce Jesus to those that don’t know Him and disciple new believers.
